After breakfast in the forest, start a slow walk to aid acclimatization. With abundant bird life all around, trek out of the forest and up into the Hagenia zone. Day 6: Shira 1 Camp/Shira 2 Camp:

As you awaken this morning, a beautiful view of the entire Shira Plateau lies before you. Explore the plateau today, including the small caves a short walk from the campsite, as you trek east toward Kibo's glacial peak. Day 7: Shira 2 Camp/Moir Camp:

Proceed steadily upward through the heather and into the barren high-altitude desert, toward the "Shark's Tooth" and your camp. The trek is short today to add extra time to acclimatize. From your isolated camp, there are great views over the Shira Plateau and Amboseli Game Reserve.
